Once Upon a Time, There was a Walk in the Woods

The Turtles are learning so much about stories. We have talked a lot about characters, and today we started talking about setting and props. After reading the book, "The Red Wolf," part of which takes place in the woods, we decided to go for a walk in the woods to see if we could find anything that would make a good story. It turns out the the woods are full of good stories!
We found...

 a muddy bog!

 fiddlehead ferns,

 a "princess hole,"

 prickly briers,

a secret tunnel,

a forest path,

an old sign,

a tree stump decaying from the inside out,

a giant sign,

deer prints,

raccoon prints,

a giant muddy hill,

a bobcat,

a giant echo room,

a talking cage,

 magic green stones,

men working on a tree that had split in two.
All of these things would be great in a story, and we will work on illustrating and telling more stories tomorrow.
We also had a special guest reader today. Davie's brother Joe came in to read us two books. The kids loved it!
