Farm Living is the Life for Me!

Yesterday afternoon, the Turtles did some more preparation for our garden bed, by hauling in several loads of very smelly compost. It took a lot of muscles, and we had to plug our noses many times, but we got it all in the beds.

Today we brought in more dirt and perlite and mixed it in, and brought out our seedlings to get them use to being outside and ready for transplanting. The Turtles are very excited about how fast our seedlings are growing.

At Morning Meeting, Maggie's grandmother came to read us the book, Cordoroy Goes to the Beach, and even dressed up in her beach hat.

Julian also took his turn at the Treasure Box, and the Turtles enjoyed checking out the interesting toys he'd brought in.

Next, we headed out on an to adventure to the Lower School. We stopped at a number of our favorite places along the way, including, the Puddle Tree,

the big tree stump,

to check out a pair of geese swimming in the bog,

and to play at the big kid's playground.

When we made it to our destination, to borrow some digital cameras from the kindergarten class, we found a wonderful surprise waiting for us -

3 day old baby chicks! All the Turtles took turns carefully holding them.

After more time on the kindergarten playground, we went to serenade our friends Nancy and Rich.
We borrowed a microphone from our friend John, to use on our digital stories, and then made our way back to our garden.
